CAPE YORK ADVENTURE
Monday, Sep 9, 2019
I thought a trip to Cape York was all about reaching the northernmost point of mainland Australia, also known as ‘The Tip’. But a visit to Cape York is so much more than the destination. What makes this tour special is the journey. With dirt tracks, colourful local characters and unique wildlife at close range, Cape York is one to add to the bucket list.
It wouldn’t be a true North Queensland tour without spotting a crocodile or two and Western Cape Eco Tours provided just that. With an incredible amount of local knowledge and precision wildlife spotting, we were able to get up close (not too close) to crocodiles in their natural habitat, an amazing sight to see.
Although travelling in July has beautiful mid-20 temperatures I couldn’t wait to cool off in the spectacular Fruit Bat Falls. Put your mind at ease when you jump in, as this is a croc free zone.
Bramwell Station was the surprise packet. With a delicious home-cooked buffet dinner and my singing voice in tune, the night with fellow adventures was one to remember.
Finally, the day arrived to travel to The Tip. We had a scenic drive through rainforest before completing the rest of the journey by foot. We strolled along Frangipani Beach and over rocky headland before celebrating our arrival to The Tip.
From legendary Battle Camp Road to sparkling waterfalls and the colourful paradise of Thursday Island, I highly recommend you add Cape York to your ‘next adventure’ list.
