General information

Accommodation Attraction Meals

Bungaree Station was established in 1841 and became one of Australia's most famous merino sheep studs. It became like a small village, with its own store, church, school and council chambers, as well as the beautiful homestead, workers cottages and woolshed. Today, 175 years later, it is stlll run by the descendents of the original founder, GC Hawker.

The property is open by appointment for guided tours to bus groups, while smaller groups can do a self guided audio tour. Both the guided tours and the audio tour include the Homestead Gardens, Church, Woolshed, Station Store, Blacksmith Shop and other sites, and enable visitors to catch a glimpse of life as it was for these early pioneers. Full catering is also available to bus groups.

Many of the historic buildings have also been converted into unique accommodation for 2-35 people. While staying at Bungaree, guests are welcome to use the swimming pool, explore scenic walking trails, join in the feeding of the animals in the mornings, explore the surrounds or simply relax in front of the fire with some local Clare Valley Wine. Catering is also available by prior arrangement.
